Characteristic
SK-3 adalah baja high carbon standar JIS G4401 Jepang, equivalent dengan American standard SAE 1085. Jumlah kandungan karbon bahan SK adalah 0,6 hingga 1,5%. Bahan SK tersedia dalam berbagai jenis, dari Tipe 1 ke Tipe 7. SK1 memiliki rasio konten karbon 1,3 hingga 1,5% sementara SK7 memiliki rasio konten karbon 0,6 hingga 0,7%. Rasio kandungan karbon material menurun dari SK1 ke SK7. Ketika rasio konten karbon menjadi kurang dari atau sama dengan 0,6%, material menjadi bahan untuk struktur mesin (material SC).
SK3 dan SK5 sangat sering digunakan dalam press dies. Metode penggunaannya dalam press dies adalah untuk punches and dies volume produksi kecil. Karena kekerasan bahan SK lemah terhadap panas, bahkan setelah pengerasan yang memadai, tidak mungkin untuk mengharapkan umur panjang ketika digunakan untuk item yang menghasilkan panas pemesinan seperti dalam operasi blanking pers. Karena itu, daripada menggunakan bahan-bahan ini untuk punches and dies, sangat umum untuk menggunakan bahan-bahan ini sebagai bagian tambahan seperti packing plates, dll.

Characteristic
Baja SK-5 adalah baja karbon tinggi standar JIS G4401 setara dengan standar Amerika SAE 1085. Sebagai paduan, baja SK 5 memiliki kekerasan sekitar HRC 65 dan menghasilkan campuran martensit kaya karbon dengan beberapa larutan karbida. Characteristic

SKS3 adalah bahan baja karbon tinggi (H-Karbon) dengan kandungan  kromium tinggi (Cr tinggi), yang diperoleh dengan menambahkan tungsten (W), molibdenum (Mo), dan vanadium (V) ke bahan SK. Bahan-bahan ini menegaskan tingkat kekerasan yang lebih tinggi setelah perlakuan panas QT, memiliki tingkat deformasi yang lebih rendah, dan anti aus yang sangat baik dalam kondisi dingin. Jumlah deformasi akibat pengerasan sekitar 1/2 dari bahan SK. Meskipun saat ini deformasi akibat perlakuan panas tidak lagi menjadi masalah karena pemesinannya dilakukan dengan memotong kawat pemesinan listrik setelah pengerasan, ini menjadi perhatian besar sebelumnya.

Perlakuan Panas (Heat Treatment)

Annealing dari baja Perkakas O1
Perlahan dipanaskan sampai 740-760 ℃ (1364-1400 ℃) dan biarkan cukup waktu, biarkan baja dipanaskan seluruhnya, Kemudian dinginkan perlahan di dalam tungku. Baja perkakas O1 akan mendapatkan kekerasan MAX 250 HB (Brinell).

Hardening baja perkakas O1
Baja O1 harus dipanaskan secara merata hingga 780-820 ° C (1436-1508 ° F) sampai benar-benar dipanaskan. Jika perlu, baja dapat dipanaskan terlebih dahulu pada suhu 300-500 ° C (572-932 ° F). Powdered High Speed Tool Steel (HSS)

Mirip dengan metode pembuatan baja perkakas biasa, baja perkakas kecepatan tinggi diproduksi dengan memadatkan material cair. 
Struktur yang seragam dan halus dari bubuk baja perkakas kecepatan tinggi disiapkan dengan terlebih dahulu membuat bubuk halus bahan cair, dan memadatkan bubuk itu. Dengan melakukan ini, ketahanan aus, ketangguhan, dan ketahanan lelah semuanya meningkat. Kekerasan sinter sekitar 64 hingga 70 HRC diperoleh. Baja ini digunakan bila menggunakan baja mati kecepatan tinggi tidak memuaskan. JIS memiliki standar baja perkakas kecepatan tinggi bubuk dalam SKH40 (berbasis molibdenum). Sejumlah besar pabrikan menggunakan baja yang awalnya dikembangkan.
